I'm starting a new series here - one I am pretty sure I can keep up with! It's going to be a monthly list of what I'm currently obsessing over or loving. It's a way for you to get to know me a little better, I guess! So without further ado - here is the October list! *This post contains affiliate links.
1. What I'm Watching: The Good Doctor on ABC
Fall TV has some great options, but one of the new shows I've really been enjoying has been The Good Doctor. It's about a young doctor who has autism and how he and those around him adapt to his new job working in a hospital. Since I worked with many students who have autism, I'm always drawn to works that have autism as a central theme. I feel like The Good Doctor does a good job in portraying how difficult everyday communication can be for someone who has autism, but i also love that it shows that just because someone does have autism, doesn't mean that they cannot be successful.
2. What I'm Reading: Stay with Me by Ayobami Adebayo
Recently, my sister-in-law Priscilla started a blog - Of Petals and Pages - about her thoughts on the books she reads. One of the books she posted about that caught my attention was this one. I'm actually listening to it on audiobook, and I'm not very far through it, but so far it is really intriguing and such an interesting way of learning about a culture that is very different from ours. I'll keep you posted, and I'm hoping to finish it soon, but so far it's a really interesting read!
3. My Current Obsession: Anything GOLD
I have ordered gold flatware, gold-rimmed plates, gold accessories for our new wall unit, gold hardware for the wall unit and the kitchen... catch my drift? I think it's a classic and always looks elegant, so yeah - current obsession.
4. Favorite Beauty Find: Farsali Unicorn Essence
Okay, so I probably watch way too many beauty blogger videos, but it's so incredible to see the transformations and the techniques they use. One of the products I had been dying to try was Farsali's Unicorn Essence. So I stopped in at Sephora the other day and picked up a small bottle. First of all, the smell is amazing. I think if unicorns had a smell, this would definitely be it. And secondly, it's an awesome makeup primer. It isn't thick, and it helps my makeup to stay put without changing the consistency of it!
5. What I'm Wearing Nonstop: Isabel for Target Maternity Yoga Pants
These yoga pants, with their supportive crossover panel, are so comfortable for a growing belly. I personally favor maternity bottoms that support my belly, especially with this pregnancy, where I am carrying much lower than last time. Anyway, these pants are in constant rotation!
6. The Best Meal I Ate: Cafe Martorano
A few weeks ago we stayed in Fort Lauderdale for a couple nights and we went to eat at Cafe Martorano. Eddie had been wanting to go for a long time, and since we were staying down the street we decided to go. We were a little worried because the reviews had said that they weren't kid-friendly, but we didn't find that at all. The service was fantastic, and the food was absolutely incredible. Some of the best Italian food I've had in a really long time. I had the Rigatoni special but the Cheese Steak was an amazing dish too. If you're in the area, this is definitely a must-try. Pro tip: Make reservations.
7. What I Can't Stop Humming: Itsy Bitsy Spider & Ed Sheeran's Perfect
Clearly I have a toddler. lol. That's all.
8. Purchase I'm Most Excited About: Maternity Overalls!
When I first found out I was expecting, one of the items I kept looking for was maternity overalls. I didn't want to pay an exorbitant amount for an item that I would use for a limited time, but I really wanted a pair. So I found these at Motherhood and I snatched them up!
9. What I'm Most Looking Forward to Next Month: New York, Thanksgiving, and Eddie's Birthday!
November is a busy month for us! We are taking a trip to New York where we will get to visit Eddie's brother and his wife, who is also expecting and is due just about 5 weeks before I am! I'll be taking their maternity photos, and we're also having our photos taken, which I'm super excited about. We are hosting Thanksgiving for the second time (more on that coming to the blog later this week!), and Eddie's birthday is the day after Thanksgiving (gift suggestions welcome)! So many great things happening this month.
10. Wish List Item: Tury Burch 'Fleming' Convertible Shoulder Bag in Royal Navy
I guess if I put it out there in the universe maybe it will happen. lol. Christmas is coming up, honey! ;) But seriously, I'm loving this bag!
There you have my October list!
Some days I'm just over wearing jeans or yoga pants. I still want to be comfy, because I'm loading a toddler in and out of the car, taking numerous trips to the bathroom, and running errands. But I really enjoy looking put together while I do those things!
I also don't claim to be a fashion blogger, but I do really enjoy putting looks together and making old things current again. Every item I'm wearing in this look I have had for years. This dress is maternity, a holdover from my pregnancy with Caleb. It is the softest t-shirt material and I have worn it countless ways. The chambray shirt is probably the first chambray shirt I ever purchased and I honestly have no idea where I even got it. I typically wear this shirt tied around my waist, because it doesn't have much of a shape, but I thought tying it in a knot above my protruding belly would add another fun layer to the look. I would never wear a shirt tied this high up unless I was pregnant, because hello, I don't want anyone to think I am pregnant when I'm not!
These Cole Haan Zero Grand Wingtips are some of the most comfortable shoes I own. My husband had a few pairs and before we took our big trip to Paris a couple of years ago, he convinced me that they were a good buy. I'm glad I listened to him and spent the money on them, because I have worn them more times than I can remember, and they really are the comfiest (they weigh nothing).
The backpack is from Ryla Pack - it's actually from their line before their recent rebrand. It's the best "diaper backpack" anyone could want!
And as far as my hair - I fell asleep with it wet last night, and woke up with it looking pretty wild. To tame it, I took a straightening iron to it and threw in a few waves to make it look presentable. When I do this, I focus mostly on the front, which is what most people pay attention to anyway!
The look was even comfy enough to help Caleb put together this pumpkin! (Thanks to his madrina for getting all the supplies and painting the pumpkin ahead of time!)

A couple of years ago, we completed a major renovation on our house. We updated floors, electrical, bathrooms, and we added just about 1,000 square feet to our home. But after all of that, and furnishing the new areas of the house, as well as giving birth to Caleb (yes - I survived pregnancy while our house was being renovated - AND we lived in the house most of the renovations), we were tired, and didn't really have the energy, or the budget to update our living room the way we really wanted to.
We were still using the media console and coffee table we purchased when we got married. They were good sturdy pieces and they fit perfectly in our first condo, but they were too dark and bulky for our current space. A couple months back we decided to paint the coffee table to lighten up the space some. It tided us over for a few months, but it definitely was not what we needed.
Enter Artistic Wood Finishing, a small local company run by a husband and wife team. Eddie sent Manny & Julie photos of what we wanted, they came out to our house and measured, and in just a few weeks, they delivered. They spent a few hours at the house installing and making sure everything was perfect. Scroll down to see a before, and all the afters, along with some details and shoppable links!
We downsized and simplified the coffee table, and added a small round area rug to break up the space a little. MOST of the decor on the shelves were things we already had. But I did purchase a few items to complete the look.
Instead of glass on the doors, we decided to do a mesh, with the idea that it would give it a little more of a rustic look. We also decided on gold hardware to tie everything together perfectly.
Our space looks so clean and complete now. I finally feel like there are no major projects left in our home - although who knows - something always comes up right?
I hope you enjoyed seeing our living room update!

If the exact items weren't available, I linked the most similar I could find!
Happy Friday, friends! The last two weeks have been really busy around here, and we are all fighting colds, but I have so many awesome things to share with you all and I can't wait!
But a quick baby update: I hit 20 weeks this last Monday, and I am feeling great (aside from the stuffy nose). The doctor says everything looks perfect, and our princess is growing exactly as she should be. We got to hear her heartbeat yesterday, and let me tell you, there is no greater sound than that! She is pretty active in there. I started feeling her a few weeks ago and she is constantly moving around - especially when I'm ready to go to sleep (but isn't that how it always goes?)!
Foe me, my pregnancy wardrobe is always a fun challenge in that I like to purchase basic items that I know I will use often, but also in that I don't want to look like I'm always wearing the same thing. So I use non-maternity items to make the looks different.
Two items I would definitely invest in while pregnant are a great pair of seamless leggings and a chambray shirt. I try to use as many non-maternity tops as possible, but when buttons don't close or the shirts start to get too short, it's time to switch over to maternity stuff. The leggings can be dressed up or dressed down, and the chambray shirt can be used year round.
For a day of drop off, pick up, a 20 week checkup (yes! 20 weeks already, can you believe it?!), and a couple of errands, I paired these basics with a pair of tan ankle boots and my daily bag. Sunglasses help hide the fact that I'm not wearing much makeup. If it was a little cooler out, I may have added a scarf or sweater, but it's still pretty stifling out.
The leggings are actually the only thing I have purchased recently. The top is from my first pregnancy, and the boots I purchased over two years ago. Also, I'm trying something new, and linking items from my looks at the end of my outfit posts. If the same item isn't available, I'm linking something similar. Let me know if you like this new feature!
The leggings I linked are the exact ones I have, and let me tell you - seamless leggings are a game changer. When you are pregnant and everything that digs in even just a little bit bothers you, not having seams digging into you is a godsend.
The booties with a 1.5 inch heel are the perfect height. Sometimes when I wear completely flat shoes too many days in a row, I get lower back pain. Adding a tiny bit of height to my heels gives my low back a break by taking some pressure off my heels. I actually bought these heels before we went to Paris a few years ago and I wore them at least 3 of the 10 days we were there!
Hope you enjoyed this look! Have a fabulous weekend, friends!
P.S. Kudos to my hubs for the awesome photo skills. ;)

A special thank you to Mixto Food & Drink for hosting us! And thank you to Jessica Marinello for most of these photos since I was a scatterbrain and didn't take any photos with my camera!
A few weeks ago I hosted my first brunch for local mom bloggers at Mixto Food & Drink in Miami Springs. It was an intimate affair where we got to chat about motherhood, family life, and balancing real life with being a blogger. It was a nice change of pace to be able to chat with other moms who are going through the same things as I am in multiple ways.
The brunch was an idea Gina, who owns the restaurant along with her husband Ernie, brought to me a few months ago, and after a postponement due to Hurricane Irma, we finally made it happen. I was excited to host brunch in a new spot with great meals, and Mixto did not disappoint!
First, can we talk about their decor? I love the black and gold decor and the amazing chandelier that you see when you walk in. The second floor is set up like a mini library with a few tables as well. I also love the communal table in the center of the restaurant. One of my favorite things however? The tables, which are decoupaged with pages from some of Gina's favorite books! She and her daughters did those all themselves. Such a cool idea!
But I know what you really want to know about is the food, right? They kicked off their brunch just a few weeks before we went, and the brunch menu made me want to try one of everything. I was between the Croquette Benedict and the Tater Tot Waffle, but I settled on the Croquette Benedict because, well, Eggs Benedict. Honestly, it was so good that I would have licked my plate had it not been for the fact that I was in the company of really wonderful ladies whom I did not want to gross out!
I followed up my breakfast with a cup of decaf hibiscus tea, which was delicious. And we decided to split a slice of guava cheesecake, which was spectacular.
And the amazing ladies who joined me, you should definitely go check them out! They are all amazing mommas and have some incredible talents and focuses that they show off on their blogs!
Angie at The Real Food Mama
Jessica at A Mother Adventure
Saray at Saray & Co.

We got to chat about blogging goals, motherhood goals, and shared tips and tricks for everything under the sun.
So go check out these mommas, and if you're in the area, go check out MiXto - I promise they won't disappoint!
P.S. If you're in the area on October 28th, MiXto is participating in a community trick-or-treat party, which is free to the community. It will take place from 5:30 - 8:30, so go check them out!
